Susan Griffin has been one of the most influential voices in feminism for more than fifty years. She is often credited with launching the ecofeminism movement. She wrote over 20 books and pioneered a form of writing that combines essay, memoir, poetry, philosophy, and social critique. Susan explores topics such as war, non-violence, eros, and illness.
A Pulitzer finalist, Susan has taught writing for decades and has now distilled that knowledge in a new book, Out of Silence, Sound. Out of Nothing, Something., a guide to writing and the creative process. Among her many awards and honors, she has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Northern California Book Award for non-fiction, an honorary doctorate from the Graduate Theological Union, a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Commonwealth Silver Award for Poetry. A Chorus of Stones was a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award, and won the Northern California Book Award, and her play “Voices” was given a local Emmy.
