After becoming paralyzed in a car accident, Fathima Zohra is today a mental health and disability advocate. Zohra is paying it forward now by mentoring younger people to achieve their life goals. What keeps Zora going is her mission to make a difference in the lives of her community. She said when other people with disabilities and mental health conditions message her to say her sharing inspired them, “it is these people that keep me going and motivate me to continue doing what I do”. Zora recently won the Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards, which recognizes the achievements of persons with disabilities.
Zora says, “Life isn’t going to stop just because I’m sick or I broke my neck, or just because my life isn’t how I think it’s supposed to be. Everyone is waiting to be healthy, we’re waiting to find our passion, we’re waiting to find true love before we actually start living. My wish for everyone that comes across my story is that you never stop living your life to the fullest no matter what you may be going through. For anyone who needs to hear this today, don’t ever give up. As much as I wanted to give up every minute of every day, I always reminded myself that I only made it to where I am now because I didn’t give up.
