Sarah Fuller is an American college women’s soccer goalkeeper. She gained renown as the first woman to ever play in a college football Power 5 game when she kicked for the Vanderbilt University Commodores men’s team on November 28. The 21-year-old was recruited by Vanderbilt’s football team earlier this week after the team had to bench their specialists after COVID-19 contact tracing has left the team with a limited number of specialists.
Sarah began playing soccer at age 5, and went on to lead the Vanderbilt Commodores’ women’s soccer team to an SEC championship in 2020. “I represent the little girls out there who wanted to do this or have thought about playing football or any sport, really. I just want to tell all the girls out there that you can do anything you set your mind to, you really can. If you have that mentality all the way through, you can do big things.” She said she would be wearing “Play Like A Girl” on the back of her helmet. “Play Like a Girl” is a nonprofit that encourages girls to play sports and get exposure to STEM opportunities.
