Greta Gerwig is an actor, director, and screenwriter. She began her career primarily focused on acting, particularly in independent films. She hasn’t given up acting but intends to focus on writing and directing. At the Women in Entertainment Summit in 2017, she noted, “I want to produce women’s films, because I think women want to see films made by people who know what they’re talking about, what the experience is.”
Greta’s new movie Barbie grossed $356 million globally in its opening weekend, marking it the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman. She is the only director in history to have their first three solo feature films nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. She has been nominated and won numerous awards, Oscars and Golden Globes, for acting directing and writing. Her groundbreaking achievements holds great promise for up-and-coming female directors.
